AV Networking Made Easy Seminar Recap

On Thursday, October 25, 2018 Peachstate Audio hosted an event with Luminex Network Intelligence, DiGiCo, and West Penn Wire. The event, dubbed "AV Networking Made Easy" came from the tagline of Luminex network switches. The seminar was planned due to the rise of networking knowledge that AV Professionals need to know to set up IP-Based systems. We wanted to give customers a chance to learn solutions that would help them set up AV Networks without prior IT knowledge.

Rex Austin, Southeastern Sales Manager for West Penn Wire, kicked off the morning with his presentation. He opened by introducing the customers to the product and what makes it different. He then moved to different types of Category Cables and Fiber, specifically those that might be used in networking. For a full video of Rex's presentation, please check out the video below from Peachstate Audio's YouTube page.

Next up, Rik Kirby of Allied Professional Technologies gave a presentation on Luminex Network Switches. He brought the Gigacore 26i, as well as the 16Xt and GigaCore 10. His presentation talked about the importance of using network switches in AV and the ease in which an AV technician could use Luminex products without prior IT knowledge. Rik, a self-proclaimed "Audio Guy", told the crowd that though the switch may seem like an extra cost initially, in the long run it will save time, headache, and money. For Rik's full presentation see below from our YouTube channel.

Rik's company also represents Linea Research Amplifiers and they brought along the 44M20-Dante Amplifier to show off.

Our last presenter of the day was Ryan Shelton from DiGiCo. Ryan focused not necessarily on the SD12 that he brought, but Digital Audio Networks. After following Rik's presentation about Luminex, he also emphasized how much easier life would be as an audio engineer with the network switches. Ryan's full presentation is below.

After the formal presentations, the group broke for a BBQ lunch provided by Sugar Hill Smokehouse. Once everyone finished eating, the manufacturers hosted an open house time. This informal time allowed people to ask questions, get hands-on time with the products, and inquire about specific applications.

This was definitely a new seminar topic for many of our customers. We were happy to provide education and training on cutting edge technology that we believe will be a vital part of A/V/L in the years to come. InfoComm 2018 Recap

Two weeks ago we ventured out West to Las Vegas to take in the latest product offerings at InfoComm. While three days isn't enough time to see everything (it spanned 550,000 net square feet of exhibits, demo rooms and special events space, making it the biggest InfoComm ever), we did try to find the newest and most exciting products for you. Many of these products debuted at the show and won't be available until later this year, while some of them are ready to ship!

Due to the large amount of products that we're recapping, we'll separate into three sections: audio, lighting/staging, and video/convergence. We'll link some of these product recaps to web pages or youtube videos so that you can see more for yourself.
AudiodB TechnologiesVio L208: Though we have seen the preview of the Vio series, we had not heard them in person yet. We had a chance to see them live at the dB Technologies listening room and we were definitely impressed! ES 1203 Column PA System: Also a w…

Atlanta Caribbean Carnival Parade 2018

Over Memorial Day Weekend, we were proud to sponsor a "float" in Atlanta's Caribbean Carnival Parade. The Atlanta Caribbean Carnival Bandleaders Association (ACCBA) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to  promote a broader understanding and deeper appreciation for Caribbean culture by seeking the interest of Atlanta Caribbean Carnival Groups and using the Atlanta Caribbean Carnival as a vehicle for the promotion of Caribbean Culture among the broader Metro Atlanta Community.

Our customer Peter Kahn designed the float for the parade, complete with Yorkville & ElectroVoice loudspeakers and subs. Products included the Yorkville EF15P 15"  loudspeaker & 21" Powered Subwoofer Elite, and the ElectroVoice 15" Three-Way Loudspeakers. This rig packed some serious power!

If the staggering size of the float and the power of the loudspeakers aren't enough, let's take a peek under the hood and look at some of the media mixers and control proces…
