AV Networking Made Easy Seminar Recap

On Thursday, October 25, 2018 Peachstate Audio hosted an event with Luminex Network Intelligence, DiGiCo, and West Penn Wire. The event, dubbed "AV Networking Made Easy" came from the tagline of Luminex network switches. The seminar was planned due to the rise of networking knowledge that AV Professionals need to know to set up IP-Based systems. We wanted to give customers a chance to learn solutions that would help them set up AV Networks without prior IT knowledge.

Rex Austin, Southeastern Sales Manager for West Penn Wire, kicked off the morning with his presentation. He opened by introducing the customers to the product and what makes it different. He then moved to different types of Category Cables and Fiber, specifically those that might be used in networking. For a full video of Rex's presentation, please check out the video below from Peachstate Audio's YouTube page.

Next up, Rik Kirby of Allied Professional Technologies gave a presentation on Luminex Network Switches. He brought the Gigacore 26i, as well as the 16Xt and GigaCore 10. His presentation talked about the importance of using network switches in AV and the ease in which an AV technician could use Luminex products without prior IT knowledge. Rik, a self-proclaimed "Audio Guy", told the crowd that though the switch may seem like an extra cost initially, in the long run it will save time, headache, and money. For Rik's full presentation see below from our YouTube channel.

Rik's company also represents Linea Research Amplifiers and they brought along the 44M20-Dante Amplifier to show off.

Our last presenter of the day was Ryan Shelton from DiGiCo. Ryan focused not necessarily on the SD12 that he brought, but Digital Audio Networks. After following Rik's presentation about Luminex, he also emphasized how much easier life would be as an audio engineer with the network switches. Ryan's full presentation is below.

After the formal presentations, the group broke for a BBQ lunch provided by Sugar Hill Smokehouse. Once everyone finished eating, the manufacturers hosted an open house time. This informal time allowed people to ask questions, get hands-on time with the products, and inquire about specific applications.

This was definitely a new seminar topic for many of our customers. We were happy to provide education and training on cutting edge technology that we believe will be a vital part of A/V/L in the years to come. Georgia Film Industry and the Freedom of Digital Wireless

Filming is big business, and few places showcase that more than the state of Georgia. "The Hollywood of the South" or "Yallywood" are names attributed to a massive industry that had an economic impact on the state of $9.5 Billion in 2017 alone ( source ).  The industry in Georgia was boosted substantially by tax incentives introduced in 2002 and bolstered again in 2008. While we hear about the flashy movie stars and studio executives flying into the Atlanta Airport and spending money, we don't often think of the economic impact that benefits established local companies. A great example of this is longtime Peachstate customer In Concert Productions.  In Concert Productions (ICP) is a production leader in the Atlanta, GA and Southeastern US markets. Founded in 1977, ICP’s core business has always been as a full-service audio company, serving Fortune 500 corporate, theatrical, and other industrial and special events. Film and TV credits include “Hollywood South” pr...

We have these events roughly once a month in the Spring and Fall and offer educational topics or training sessions that are relevant and timely. Whether it be something customers have requested, a new product launch, or a line of products that are in high-demand, we want to make sure we bring the absolute best information and products to our customers.  This fall has proven to be our most successful stretch of seminars ever based on attendance and audience feedback. First up, in August we hosted a D-Live training session with Allen & Heath. Next, we welcomed Yamaha in September for a condensed version of their Audioversity program.
