NAMM Show 2019 Recap

NAMM Show 2019 Recap

We recently took a trip west to the NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA and wanted to share some of the highlights we saw at the show. Read on for hot new products debuts and demonstrations!

Our first stop was at ElectroVoice to check out their new Wireless RE3 system. One of the highlights of this system is the interchangeable mic capsules, including Shure capsules. We have a quick video of Dan Shawgo from SalesForce doing a demo below. If you'd like to know more information about the line you can contact your sales associate or read more from ProSound Web here.

In addition to hearing dbTechnologies at the Loudspeaker System Showcase (which they sounded great across the board with their VIOL208 System), we went by their booth to see some of their new products. We got to see the new VIO X System, conceived as a point-source completion for the VIO family. The new VIO X series provides a broad spectrum of professional applications as well as flexible configuration options.

Next up for dbTechnologies is their new RS1600 digital wireless system. Operable within the UHF spectrum between 470-870 MHz, the digital, 24-bit, true diversity wireless microphone system offers up to 400 MHz of tuning bandwidth (for any receiver and transmitter) across six channels. A total of 16,000 frequencies are available to users, which can be selected in manual mode within 25 kHz increments to meet the needs of the majority of applications across the globe. This is a good price point for someone who wants the flexibility of a digital wireless system.

We stopped by DAS Audio and got to see the new Vantec series of white loudspeakers in person. In addition, we also got to experience their new Quantum series of install speakers. These speakers are available in a range of sizes and colors and look as good as they sound. The Quantum Series is designed as the ideal solution for fixed-installs with complex acoustics because of the systems’ “vertical coverage” technology.

Tired of using cables? In case you didn't hear, Sennheiser debuted their XS Wireless system. To tell you a little more about the product we've got Chris Clay giving a brief overview below. This system will be at our upcoming Next Level DJ Seminar on March 7th if you'd like to see it demo'd live!

Shure continues to go after the podcast and youtube market with their expanding Motiv line. At NAMM they showed the new MV88+ video kit, perfect for all content creation. Also, did you notice something new about Shure? They've moved from their blue to a neon green, debuted first at CES.

Yamaha has a great option for long throw, particularly in the sports market, with the NEXO Geo S12. It is weatherized and can be horizontal or vertical. Check out a quick demo below that shows the removable flanges to switch between 80 to 120 degree horizontal coverage.

Ultimate Support is always out to solve problems with easy solutions. The adjustable Subwoofer poles are a great as are the modular device stands, both demo'd below in short videos (respectively).

We also had a chance to listen to the new Mackie DRM Series. These are good sounding (the line arrays especially) speakers for a very solid price point. The DRM Series is perfect for mobile DJs, bands, clubs, houses of worship, production/install, and more.

Bose is adding some accessories to its S1 Pro with paintable and printable covers. The color options are black, white, purple, and blue.

Looking for an affordable, compact PA system? The Galaxy GPS-8 is a powered, 200 watt, two-way, compact PA speaker with a unique asymmetrical shape which allows for wedge placement or pole mounting.

Just for fun:
A scratch off at Pioneer DJ booth was a sight to behold and was full the entire show. Pioneer DJ will be at our Next Level DJ Seminar on March 7th if you'd like to get some more hands-on time with equipment.

Primacoustics using acoustical panels printed to look like album covers was just too cool. What a great idea, especially for clubs and restaurants. Both Primacoustics and Radial will be hosting a seminar at Peachstate Audio in mid-April. More info to come soon!

Georgia Film Industry and the Freedom of Digital Wireless

Filming is big business, and few places showcase that more than the state of Georgia. "The Hollywood of the South" or "Yallywood" are names attributed to a massive industry that had an economic impact on the state of $9.5 Billion in 2017 alone ( source ).  The industry in Georgia was boosted substantially by tax incentives introduced in 2002 and bolstered again in 2008. While we hear about the flashy movie stars and studio executives flying into the Atlanta Airport and spending money, we don't often think of the economic impact that benefits established local companies. A great example of this is longtime Peachstate customer In Concert Productions.  In Concert Productions (ICP) is a production leader in the Atlanta, GA and Southeastern US markets. Founded in 1977, ICP’s core business has always been as a full-service audio company, serving Fortune 500 corporate, theatrical, and other industrial and special events. Film and TV credits include “Hollywood South” pr

An Outdoor Christmas Kickoff

There's no denying that celebrating for Christmas this year is a little different. While we can't gather together in large crowds inside, many organizations and local governments are finding ways to create Christmas cheer in a COVID safe manner. Peachstate Audio customer Fusion Light & Sound was able to put together a festive atmosphere in Jacksonville at Seawalk Pavilion for Deck The Chairs , a nonprofit that focuses on fostering art and community in the area.  Deck The Chairs in Jacksonville, FL using dbTechnologies IG4T and JBL Control 28-1 for sound With sleek dbTechnologies  INGENIA IG4T  Active Column Arrays paired with VIO S118R Subwoofers on the stage, they were able to achieve far throwing sound in an unobtrusive manner from the stage. Hidden behind simple pop-up banners, it's hard to believe such strong sound could be achieved outdoors from such a small package.  Can you spot the db Technologies IG4T Columns? For central sound from the grounds, Fusion Light
