InfoComm 2019 Recap

InfoComm 2019 Recap

Every year, InfoComm shows off the newest products in the A/V landscape. We headed down to Orlando to walk the show floor and find the next products our customers would like to see. The products below caught our eye because of their innovative designs, problem solving capabilities, or because they are just plain cool. We have them broken down between Audio, Unified Communications, and Video/Lighting.

Pro Audio

  • DPA d:sign 4097 CORE Supercardiod Choir Microphone: Ideal for house of worship and choir applications, the 4097 provides the same sonic qualities as the brand’s d:vote™ CORE 4099 Instrument Microphone but was designed specifically to capture dynamic choir sound, with both wireless or wired configurations.
  • RF Venue DISTRO9 HDR antenna distributor: (Pictured Left) 9 channels in one rack space, multi-zone antenna. It's designed for cleaner signal with a divide-by-three circuit so there are nine outputs in just two stages. Fewer stages  give the system better selectivity and introduce less artifacts. This item will be available later this year.
  • Renkus-Heinz Directivity Control DC12/2: An ultra compact, steerable array speaker,  self powered, and can be digitally steered/controlled via smartphone or tablet.  Great for meeting rooms, galleries, churches, restaurants or any smaller venues.  This could also work well for covering balconies or overflow spaces. Renkus-Heinz also has a newer ICLive X series for Larger systems using steerable-array modules and matching subwoofers for larger applications including installs as well as portable versions.
  • DB Technologies VIO X205-60:  A small two way dual 5” and 11” drivers self powered point source  speaker.  Very versatile speaker for touring, small portable rigs or installations.  LOTS of sound from a small box.
  • DB Technologies LVX P Installation series: Passive speakers from 8” to 15” woofers and 15” and 18” subs.  Available in black or white.
  • Williams AV WAVECAST assistive listening system: Uses Wifi and no need for subscription fees like previous versions. They will also have a version that is Dante enabled (coming soon) and if you need to use FM along with wifi they have the FM+ model  that will be coming soon. This system will allow venues that already have FM based WilliamSound systems to still utilize the FM receivers they already have and add the Wifi capabilities so the users can use their mobile devices.
RCF HDM 45-A 2200 Watt 15" two-way powered speaker
  • RCF new HDM 45-A  2200 watt 15”  two-way powered speaker: GREAT sounding speaker with a lot of power in a molded box that has RDNet built in. When we went to the RCF Listening room it was full and everyone was very excited about this new launch and this brand in general (pictured right).
  • EAW is adding to their 800 series line and has two new subs coming… the SB828 (dual 18”) and SB825 (dual 15”). They sounded great and are low profile and can fit under most stages so either would be a great option for installations. More information to come on these launches later this year.
Allen & Heath SQ6 Firware Update Allows Offline Editing
  • Yamaha VXC Series FThe line has expanded to include a 2-inch ceiling speaker (VXC2F) that can go down to 1 volt, perfect for applications that need a lot of ceiling speakers in a shallow space. They also have come out with a 8” subwoofer in this line (VXC8S).
  • Yamaha NEXO P12: This new point source/wedge is highly adjustable and sounds really good. The P12 can also come with an accompanying L12 sub. You can switch the P12 from passive to active.
  • Allen & Heath’s latest firmware update for the SQ-6 has an offline editor to use with Windows/Mac, something customers have been asking for for awhile.

Unified Communications
  • Sennheiser TeamConnect Ceiling 2: Similar to the first generation ceiling mic we have in our training room (available for demo if you'd like to hear it), it now comes equipped with Dante and a more fleshed out control software.
Atlas IPX Line Speakers & Displays
  • Atlas IPX Line: Speakers and visual displays that are IP addressable, perfect for schools, hospitals, etc. They’re continuing to have success with their Strategic Hidden Speaker that they debuted last year (pictured right).
  • Beyerdynamic UNITE: Digital wireless communication system for multiple uses including tour guide, interpreting, assistive listening or even wireless intercom.  No license fee required, automatic frequency  management, and intelligent DSP settings.
  • Beyerdynamic Phonum: A good solution for huddle rooms that only need one wireless bluetooth speaker/mic. The sound is excellent for such a small piece and the setup is extremely easy.
Biamp Crowd Mics
  • Vivitek Novo Enterprise: A great BYOD (bring your own device) system that is cost effective and doesn't require the installation of any software or app downloads.
  • Biamp Crowd Mics: This was a very cool, cutting edge product. It transforms every smartphone and tablet into a personal mic and response system via a free app, taking out the need to pass handheld microphones around the room. The only hardware needed in addition to your network is pictured to the left. This is an excellent solution for HOW, education, corporate meetings, etc (pictured left).
  • FSR Smartway floor raceway: A great addition to their family of products to round out and polish a conference room by hiding/connecting cords.

Video & Lighting

  • DataVideo HS1600T: A portable streaming workstation for HDBaseT (more affordable solution without HDbaseT available in the HS-1300). These work stations are excellent for HOW and Government.
    DataVideo PTR-10
  • DataVideo RMC-300C: A controller that allows you to use your own iPad/Android Tablet.
  • DataVideo NVS-33: An encoder/MP4 recorder which would be great for small to mid-size HOW who want to simultaneously stream while recording in high quality.
  • DataVideo PTR-10: A good solution for a customer that already has a nice camera they want to keep using. Transform what they already have into a PTZ camera (pictured right).
  • Digital Projection Satellite Modular Laser System: This high-tech piece of equipment debuted at the show. It separates the light source to a remote location, which enables a much smaller and quieter projection head freeing up space in the system design.
  • EIKI EK-120U and EK-121W Projectors: Entry level projectors that have the longevity closer to laser but with a lamp price, a good cost effective solution especially for education and HOW.
  • Key Digital KD-PS42: A good presentation switcher for corporate and education that has HDBaseT and also has a CEC Manager which makes control easier.
  • Pro Lights MOSAICO: (Pictured above) A large scale outdoor lighting fixture that projects onto buildings and landscapes. This is a great solution for theme parks and major attractions.

Georgia Film Industry and the Freedom of Digital Wireless

Filming is big business, and few places showcase that more than the state of Georgia. "The Hollywood of the South" or "Yallywood" are names attributed to a massive industry that had an economic impact on the state of $9.5 Billion in 2017 alone ( source ).  The industry in Georgia was boosted substantially by tax incentives introduced in 2002 and bolstered again in 2008. While we hear about the flashy movie stars and studio executives flying into the Atlanta Airport and spending money, we don't often think of the economic impact that benefits established local companies. A great example of this is longtime Peachstate customer In Concert Productions.  In Concert Productions (ICP) is a production leader in the Atlanta, GA and Southeastern US markets. Founded in 1977, ICP’s core business has always been as a full-service audio company, serving Fortune 500 corporate, theatrical, and other industrial and special events. Film and TV credits include “Hollywood South” pr

An Outdoor Christmas Kickoff

There's no denying that celebrating for Christmas this year is a little different. While we can't gather together in large crowds inside, many organizations and local governments are finding ways to create Christmas cheer in a COVID safe manner. Peachstate Audio customer Fusion Light & Sound was able to put together a festive atmosphere in Jacksonville at Seawalk Pavilion for Deck The Chairs , a nonprofit that focuses on fostering art and community in the area.  Deck The Chairs in Jacksonville, FL using dbTechnologies IG4T and JBL Control 28-1 for sound With sleek dbTechnologies  INGENIA IG4T  Active Column Arrays paired with VIO S118R Subwoofers on the stage, they were able to achieve far throwing sound in an unobtrusive manner from the stage. Hidden behind simple pop-up banners, it's hard to believe such strong sound could be achieved outdoors from such a small package.  Can you spot the db Technologies IG4T Columns? For central sound from the grounds, Fusion Light
